    Be entranced by a century of wedding fashions from the Cavalcade of History and Fashion’s collection of original gowns.

     

    From the bustled 1880s to the lavishness of the Edwardian bride; from the freedom of the 1920s and the figure hugging silhouette of the 1930s, through to the daring and extravagance of wedding gowns from the 60, 70s and 80s.

     

    Wedding gowns in the 2oth century truly reflect the social and fashion history of each decade.

    Don’t miss this presentation with experts  from The Cavalcade of History & Fashion as they present two talks on both Saturday and Sunday at the wedding fashion display, at the show.

     

    Come and take a journey back in time with these original gowns, learn about wedding customs through the century, and catch a glimpse of the lives of some of the women who wore them.

    Caring for Your Vintage Treasures – how to store, clean and repair

    Stage Presentations in the Lounge area – SATURDAY: 1.30pm; SUNDAY 11am

     

    Get advice from the experts in care and preservation for your vintage textiles. Whether your treasures are antique tablecloths or vintage clothing, the members of The Cavalcade of History and Fashion are keen to share their knowledge with you. you can also speak with members on their stand in the Wedding Fair area at the show.

     

    Cavalcade’s founding members had the significant foresight to recognise the heritage significance of the collection by recording the provenance of acquisitions and retaining the name of the gown’s owner. Dedicated work of committed volunteers, with guidance from museum advisors, has enabled maintenance of a full schedule of community events and exhibitions whilst ensuring that the collection is conserved to the highest standards.
